This Valentines Day, 2021, choose the Monogamy album "Tonight Looks Bad" -- and also fear not if monogamy is not yr lifestyle, I think that multiple people in this trio were or are poly amorous (i think). And me, Casia, I am monogamous. So you can see here - at Fish People Birds we support many lifestyles, just be truly caring to people u date ok ? Its all gravy baby.

I love this group so I am biased but it really feels effortless to pick up this hot rock full of lava and give it to you. Equal parts bops and existential simmerers, Don, Toni and Sam (the monogamy trio) have such an effortless way of cooperating to make songs that sound like they were generated by an old head and a toddler simultaneously. The amount of Colorful writing / Sweet Energy, and damp socks that this whole project holds is hard to explain in a press release. Genre markers like "New Sincerity" "Michigan Basement Songwriters", "International Tape Home Recordists" and "Sonic Abstraction" might guide you a bit towards the world of this record-- but really you will know this record best when you are baked into the drivers seat of your sedan when the battery dies.

"Tonight Looks Bad" comprises some of Monogamy's best work as a trio. They manage to bounce around between jangly acoustic pop to guitar riffs so heavy you want to smash a bottle on the floor! Synths and drum machine dubs are worked into every track just right. All the noise and energy finally gives way at the end to the quiet, self loathing slow-core track, "white can." Which has become my new favorite Monogamy tune.
